Artwork Description:
Do Not Kill, Capture could be the Army Law serves as a manifesto that proposes a fundamental shift in military ethics: replacing lethal force with a commitment to capture and humane detention. Addressed to leaders and citizens of America and beyond, it contends that advances in technology make non-lethal engagement both feasible and necessary. Intelligence, not brute force, becomes the new measure of strength and legitimacy. This manifesto is part of a broader tradition of political art that challenges the status quo, echoing the works of artists such as Pablo Picasso, whose Guernica unveiled the horrors of war, and Francisco Goya, in his Disasters of War series. The artist envisions a future where the ethos of 'Do Not Kill' and the procedural rigor of police detention supplant the archaic logic of annihilation, transforming military conduct in the post-industrial age.
